Our call for proposals aims to catalyse digital social innovations in response to the increasing digitalisation shaping our societies. Recognising the transformative potential of digital innovation, we seek to shift the focus from merely leveraging development through digital means to understanding digital innovation as pivotal for inclusive and sustainable development in a digitalised world. Despite notable progress, digital gaps persist, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, underscoring the importance of internet access in fostering socio-economic opportunities. However, along with opportunities come challenges such as cybersecurity threats, fake news proliferation, and data privacy concerns.

The Wehubit programme and fund focus on accelerating the adoption and scaling-up of digital social innovations, defining innovations as novel solutions with proven implementation and potential for impactful scalability. While innovation remains relative, Wehubit prioritises disruptive innovations that challenge existing paradigms over incremental ones. Differentiating between disruptive and incremental innovation involves assessing risk, impact potential, and resource requirements. Moreover, innovation is not merely an outcome but a continuous process of experimentation, learning, and knowledge generation.

In essence, our call for proposals seeks innovative solutions that not only address current challenges but also have the potential to drive meaningful and scalable impact in the digitalised world, positioning Wehubit as a trusted partner along the innovation journey to maximise the chances of success.

How to apply?

If you are interested in applying for a grant, we invite you to download the guidelines and the introductive note and carefully read all the information surrounding the process. These contain all the necessary information and instructions to be followed for submitting your project.

If you feel your project is in line with the guidelines, and you wish to apply, you can click on the 'APPLY' button, which will lead you directly to the starting page of the application form.

During this application form you will be asked to answer questions and upload the required documents (see guidelines). Templates are provided within the webform.

Applicants must ensure that their forms and annexes are complete. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Tips to improve your chances

The jury is not yet replaced by artificial intelligence. Its members are still working with human brains. Make their life easy by going straight to the point in your answers.

Clearly read the guiding principles section on our website and apply them in your project.

The grant is funded by public money. You’re not allowed to identify upfront in your proposal who you will work with unless it is a co-applicant, or a partner (which implies no money transfer). While implementing your project, you will have to look for service and goods providers: apply transparent and competitive selection procedures during implementation.
